There is a lot to do on the island Goeree-Overflakkee
Recommended beaches:
- Flaauwe werk, a very wide beach, so plenty of space, and closest to our house (approx 1.5km).
Beach clubs for lunch, drinks and dinner: Paal 10 and Looxs, - De Vuurtoren, a beautiful spot, no beach tent, but great for relaxation.
- 't Gorsje, just before the Brouwersdam, great with smaller kids. Please be aware that dogs are allowed on this beach year-round (on a leash).
- Brouwersdam, long and wide beach, great for all sorts of water activities, such as kite surfing- and wind surfing.
Many beach clubs to are situated here: Brouw, Strandclub Zee and Natural High.
Please be aware of the strong currents of the sea.
Watersport activities:
- The Brouwersdam (North Sea) is known worldwide for being one of the best spots for kite- and wind surfing. Lessons or equipment can be booked via Natural high (link) or beachclub Brouw (link).
- On the other side of the dike, there is the Grevelingen lake where also lots of watersport activities take place such as sailing. Near Port Zelande there is a Sail and Surf center (link).

Hiking and cycling:
- Enjoy a hike or cycle through the dunes over the head of Goeree to the lighthouse or the other way to the Kwade Hoek (link)
- Hiking in the area of the Kwade Hoek is really recommended (link)
- Or enjoy endless beach walks and spot the occasional seal :)
Kids:
- A Seal Rescue Center, when seals get lost they get rescued, taken care of and then set free again by this non-profit organisation. You can visit either the center or watch them being set free on one of the beaches of Ouddorp. For tickets and other information, please visit their website (link)
- 'De Flipjes', big playground for kids up the age of 8 years old.
- De Mekkerstee, a lovely goat farm. It has a petting zoo, restaurant for home made ice cream and coffee, a cheese factory and a farm shop with fresh local produce (such as goat cheese off course :))
- Neeltje Jans (link), without a visit to this water park, where you can learn everything there is to know about the famous Dutch Delta Works, your visit to Zeeland is not complete (35 min drive).
- Museum Watersnood, a interesting museum about the North Sea flood of 1953 in Zeeland, very interesting (link) (40 min drive)
